1998 Ford Explorer Overview
A five-passenger mid-size SUV, the 1998 Ford Explorer is available with two doors or four and with a RWD, 4WD, or AWD. The base engine is a 4.0L V6 which produces 160 hp, 225 lb-ft of torque, and is rated at 21 mpg on the highway. The mid-range engine is another 4.0L V6 but power has been bumped to 205 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. The top of the range engine is a 5.0L V8 which produces 215 hp and 288 lb-ft of torque.
