Pretty much a carryover from 2008, the 4-door, 5- passenger 2009 Honda Accord Sedan offers a 2.4L four-cylinder engine that produces 177 hp and 161 lb-ft of torque, while an upgraded 190-hp version of the 2.4L engine displays 254 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual is standard with either of the four-cylinder engines, and a five-speed automatic is optional. Finally, a third engine available with the Honda Accord is a 3.5L V6 that generates 271 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque with a mandatory five-speed automatic transmission. As for fuel economy, four-cylinder Honda Accord Sedans with automatic transmission boast 21 mpg city/30 mpg hwy and 24 mpg combined, while the manual transmission increases fuel economy to 22/31/25. The six-cylinder returns 19 mpg city/29 mpg hwy and 22 mpg combined with the automatic transmission. All Accords come standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. The Accord Sedan safety rating is a perfect five stars for front passenger protection in frontal and side impacts.
