2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser Overview

Upgrades for the 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser, a midsize SUV, include active headrests, a rollover sensor and a driver-side vanity mirror, with a backup camera and an auto-dimming mirror becoming optional. Powered by a 4.0L V6 engine capable of 239 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque, the FJ Cruiser offers four-wheel drive trims with a choice of a five-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission. The rear-wheel-drive trims come with a mandatory five-speed automatic transmission. EPA-estimated fuel mileage for the automatic transmission is 16 mpg city/20 mpg hwy, while the manual transmission gets 15/18 mpg. Known for superior off-road capabilities, the FJ Cruiser is built on a truck-based, ladder-frame chassis featuring stout suspension and drive train. Toyota FJ Cruiser photos capture its retro exterior styling, reminiscent of the earlier FJ40 Series of Land Cruisers. Standard safety features include the Star Safety System with stability and traction control, ABS and brake assist, as well as front dual-stage airbags, front side airbags and back side curtain airbags.
