Introduced in 2010, the 2011 BMW X5 M is a high-performance "Sports Activity Vehicle" providing the capabilities of the X5 with power and tweaks from the German automaker's M division. Powering the X5 M is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 555-hp, 6-speed paddle-shift automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive. With extra large air scoops in the bumper, the 5000 pound X5 M roars from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. A new wheel torque vectoring differential works similar to Acura's SH-AWD set up to apply power to outside wheels during cornering. All of this adds up to an X5 that performs more like a sports sedan than an SUV. Fuel economy figures are 12/17 city/hwy but the exceptional performance and capabilities are outstanding.
