RAM is an all-new brand, but then again it's been around for decades. RAM is essentially Dodge trucks under a new name. While the new RAM trucks are similar to the old Dodge versions, they no longer carry Dodge badges. And the ram's head that used to appear on many Dodge vehicles is now exclusive to RAM trucks. John and Horace Dodge began making parts for other automakers in 1900. Dodge was later purchased by Chrysler, and evolved into a manufacturer of medium-priced family vehicles, muscle cars and pickups. The popular big rig-inspired RAM pickup helped launch a boom in full-size truck sales, and continues to play a major role in Chrysler's success.
