ADDITIONAL MODEL INFORMATION
2013 Acura ZDX

Shoppers who don't need the latest designs or newest technology can find many good deals available on recently discontinued new cars. While many newly cancelled cars are quickly sold by dealerships to avoid building inventory, we've listed several discontinued cars you can still buy new--and we bet you can get a sharp discount, as dealers are under pressure to sell now that the 2013 model year is in full swing.

Acura ZDX

Acura recently announced that its ZDX luxury crossover would not return after an abbreviated 2013 model year. While buyers who prefer more traditional SUVs like the larger MDX likely won't even notice the ZDX's departure from showrooms, those interested in the controversial crossover's unique styling should act quickly if they want to buy a new one. That's especially true for shoppers who want a great deal on the ZDX, since the 2013 model includes a boosted base price thanks to new gadgets, such as power folding side mirrors, a lane departure warning system and a forward collision alert system. As a result, the least expensive ZDX models available will be the remaining 2012s.

Ford Escape Hybrid

It's no secret that we're big fans of the Ford Escape Hybrid, which beats all other SUVs in gas mileage by returning 34 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. But since the fully redesigned 2013 Escape only uses gasoline engines, the gas-electric hybrid model won't return for the new model year. That's no problem for shoppers who don't mind the Escape's old design, as nearly 60 different new 2012 Escape Hybrids are available now on AutoTrader.com. Some are even priced below $30,000, allowing shoppers to save when purchasing their next SUV and when filling up at the pump.

Hyundai Veracruz

Hyundai's largest crossover will soon be axed in favor of a long-wheelbase version of the automaker's popular Santa Fe. While the extended-length Santa Fe likely won't offer any discounts for several years, shoppers interested in a 2012 Veracruz can probably find several strong deals on the 7-passenger crossover as supplies begin to dwindle. Unfortunately for eager shoppers, that might not be right away, as more than 1,700 new Veracruz models are available on AutoTrader.com. But if you're in the market, keep checking back with your local dealer, as they're likely to offer more money off in the coming months.

Mazda CX-7

Mazda is dropping its CX-7 crossover after the 2012 model year to make room for the smaller CX-5. While the automaker still offers the larger CX-9, drivers who find that model too big, and the CX-5 too small, are in luck. There are still more than 150 new CX-7s available nationwide on AutoTrader.com. And while the CX-7's official starting price is around $23,000, listings on AutoTrader.com start around $20,000, meaning many dealers are likely willing to bargain on the midsize SUV. For drivers who take advantage of those bargains, we recommend checking out the 244-horsepower turbocharged CX-7 s. The 4-cylinder 28-mpg CX-7 i also offers a compelling choice for drivers who want a midsize SUV at a compact SUV price.

Mercedes-Benz R-Class

Although Mercedes-Benz announced in March that its R-Class Grand Sports Tourer wouldn't return for the 2013 model year, shoppers dead set on buying the luxury crossover can still find dozens left over at Mercedes-Benz dealers nationwide. That's good news for those interested in a good deal, as the R-Class never really caught on with U.S. shoppers--and its impending cancellation makes it even less desirable. But buyers who appreciate its clean lines, comfortable interior and long list of equipment can find new R-Class models for around $55,000--a number we think might be flexible for serious buyers.

Mitsubishi Galant

Mitsubishi recently announced that it's axing the once-popular Galant mid-size sedan after the 2012 model year to free up production room for its Outlander Sport crossover. While we agree with some complaints about the sedan's fit and finish, we're impressed with its value--especially as dealers begin offering deep discounts to sell remaining inventory. Currently, more than 1,500 new Galant units are listed on AutoTrader.com, meaning buyers can take their pick of color, trim level and engine size. Best of all, they'll have a brand new mid-size sedan with a factory-backed manufacturer warranty for the price of a used car from several rival automakers.

Volvo C30

While hatchback lovers will mourn the loss of Volvo's stylish C30 at the end of the 2013 model year, those interested in buying one of the last remaining units will likely find many great deals available as dealers sell off inventory. That might not be true just yet--especially since nearly 800 new C30s are available on AutoTrader.com today--but the hatchback is certain to become a better deal as remaining stock dwindles. We're especially excited since we felt the C30 was a good deal even before Volvo announced its cancellation. It offers a potent 227-hp turbocharged 5-cylinder engine and up to 30 mpg for a starting price of around $25,000.

What it means to you: If you're interested in getting a good deal on a new car and don't need the latest gadgets or styling, use our list to find some great discounts on discontinued cars.
