Who Helped Me:Jim Colihan
Bought a new BMW x5 last year and it was in the shop for one month of the 13 months that I owned it. Jim Calihan was my sales associate and he was completely unhelpful with my problems. Car was in for service at least 4 times and 2 times was kept for a week at a time. Was promised a BMW loaner but would have to wait 2 weeks for a BMW even though my salesperson promised me a BMW loaner whenever I needed one.. Service manager was useless and service associates were patronizing and implied that I didn't know what I was talking about with problems or what I was experiencing. Final straw was dealership offering to buy vehicle from me after 13 months of problems for $10,000 less than what I sold it for. Out of all the vehicles that I have owned(Ford, Subaru, Toyota, Jeeps, Acuras and now a Porsche Cayenne), this was the worst dealership that I have ever dealt with. Avoid this dealership at all costs.

Lou Dempsey was extremely helpful in resolving a blown tire on a Friday evening. A replacement tire was not in stock, but we were given a courtesy vehicle and able to continue home.

Who Helped Me:Ron Rescigno
My family arrived 30 mins prior to Union Park BMW closing on a Saturday evening. Rather than asking us to return on Monday, Ron agreed to take us on a quick test drive of the vehicle that I have now purchased. Ron was very thorough in his explanations of the car and overall BMW ownership. He even came in on his off-day in order to allow me to take delivery of the vehicle when it was most convenient for me. I would absolutely do business with Ron again and thank him for his time and patience!

I went for BMW Service which included oil change and when I got my car back, i saw that the oil levels remained low and close to empty and not sure if anything has been done to the vehicle.

Who Helped Me:Anthony Dorazio, Pete Rotteveel
I brought my 2006 BMW to Union Park to repair an oil leak. Union Park BMW service checked the problem and recommended the repair that was done in September. The $1,000 repair was done per the diagnosis, which would lead one to believe the problem was solved. When my oil light came on again in six months, I had it checked and was stunned to be told that the problem I thought Union Park had fixed in September was still a problem today. I returned to the Union Park BMW service department and spoke to Anthony Dorazio. His response was "oil leaks happen". I did not agree, especially after so recently paying Union Park BMW to fix the problem. I reached out to the Service Manager Christine O' Connor with questions about the thoroughness of the diagnosis and September repair. I also asked about using a dye to find out why the car continued to leak oil and Ms. O'Connor said very clearly that "there is no need to because we can see the sources of an oil leak". Over the next two weeks I returned my car twice to Union Park BMW and had to find my own alternative transportation each time because I was beyond the courtesy shuttle limits and was told there were no loaner cars available. Union Park service ended up using a dye as I recommended and Pete Rotteveel offered service that would cost an additional $1,600. I refused. This type of oil leak is not something that would have just come up in the last six months, nor is it a problem that should have to be repaired every six months. Their work is sloppy and they did not perform a thorough inspection and diagnosis back in September. I am very disappointed in the lack of quality service. I bought my BMW new from Union Park and had been a customer for many years for service on my other BMW cars. I had also recommended other people who purchased new BMW cars on my high recommendation. Union Park BMW did not value me as a customer and I no longer value Union Park BMW.

Union Park BMW wrote on 4/2/2013 2:18:01 PM: Dear Ms. Jenkins: First, on behalf of everyone at Union Park BMW, we would like to thank you for loyalty to our dealership. We greatly appreciate your choosing to buy your BMW from us and choosing our dealership to service and to maintain your BMW over the last seven years. We have reviewed the records regarding the oil leak issues with your BMW and we understand your concern. We recognize that it is unwelcome news for us to find additional areas of the engine that are now leaking oil after we repaired an oil leak in September of 2012. As you can imagine, the engine is a complicated piece of machinery with multiple different seals and gaskets that can degrade over time due to normal wear, thereby causing unrelated leaks from different areas of the engine. We did repair the leaking valve cover gasket in September. Since then, however, the engine has developed oil leaks from the oil filter housing gasket and from the oil pan gasket (both distinct from the previously repaired valve cover gasket). As you know, our normal rate to repair these leaks totals $1622. We do greatly value you as a customer and appreciate your returning to our dealership. We would like to offer you a 20% discount on the repair, bringing the total cost down to $1298. We would also make sure you receive a loaner car at no charge to use while we are repairing your vehicle. If you would like to schedule this repair, please contact John Patterson at 302-573-5205 or by email to jpatterson@unionpark.com (John oversees all of our service departments). If you have other questions, please feel free to contact me at 302-573-5227 or by email to jursomarso@unionpark.com. Best regards. Jim Ursomarso Vice President Union Park BMW wrote on 4/6/2013 9:40:19 AM: Ms. Jenkins--Thank you for your message back to me. My understanding is that we did not use a dye to diagnose the first leak because we could see the source of the leak without using a dye. I would ask you not to judge us on the fact that we did not recommend repairing other oil leaks at that time because we onlyrecommended repairing the leak that was clearly an issue at that time. From our perspective, we were trying to limit the amount you would need to pay to correct the issue by repairing the leak that was clearly an issue. If we were not an honest and competent dealership, we could have recommended other repairs that were not necessary in September. Those would have simply cost you more money. Rather, we only recommended further repairs 6 months and about 7000 miles later. It may seem hard to believe, but the condition of a vehicle's engine and other parts can change dramatically in a very short period of time. If you consider a battery as an example, one day it starts fine and then the next day it may not start a car. Furthermore, even if the two additional leaks were evident in September, which we do not believe was the case, waiting six months did not mean that you spent more for the repair. The cost of the repair of all three leaks would not change if we did them all in September or in different service visits. I understand your concern, but you have been a customer for a long time and I am not aware of any other issues or concerns during your time with us. Our offer still stands if you would like to advantage of it. We certainly hope that you will reconsider. Best regards. Jim Ursomarso Union Park BMW
