I needed an alignment as I was going to put on new tires. Even though I dropped the car off at 7:30 a.m., I didn't get the car back until late afternoon, and I had to make multiple calls to find out when the car would be done. When I picked up the car, the steering wheel was off center to the right when going straight. The next day I called and the service advisor and he told me that he would have to get approval from his manager to correct this, and he would call me back. The service advisor never called me back. The next week I put new Michelin tires on the car. I called the service advisor and he said I could bring the car back to align it so the steering wheel was straight. When I came in I was told I could wait since it would take only 1 hour. After 1 hour 30 minutes I went walking around to find the service advisor. He told me they were still working on the car. After more time I was told my tires were worn out and that caused the steering wheel to be off center to the right. I pointed out the tires were 2 days old, had less than 100 miles on them, still had the nubs on them, and the 2 day old receipt was in the glove box. After another 30 minutes the story changed and I was told they couldn't make the steering wheel straight because the tie rods were too corroded to adjust. Not long before the right tire rod had been replaced, so I asked the service advisor to show me. What I saw was the right tie rod was as new, and the left tie rod had clean threads where it had been turned and adjusted, so it clearly wasn't frozen. When I pointed this out, the service advisor told me the alignment was within specifications and I'd have to live with the steering wheel off center to the right. James Motor Company provided very poor service, changed their story several times, didn't do the work properly, and didn't give me a refund. The steering wheel is still off center to the right.

Thank you for reaching out to us in regards to your recent service experience. After speaking with our technicians about the work performed on your 1987 300E there were a few variables that were brought to my attention. The tie-rods on one side of the vehicle were as new due to being recently replaced by a third party facility after an incident, while the other side appeared to be the original tie-rods with 102,000 miles of use, and unfortunately had been frozen to a point that they could not be adjusted to the required position to fix the off centered steering wheel. The only way to bring the steering wheel to the centered position is to replace the tie-rods on the other side of the vehicle to allow for proper alignment. Here at James Motor Company we have been providing excellent customer service for over 50 years. We pride ourselves on our ability to repair all Mercedes-Benz vehicles and sometimes there are just more parts required to make certain repairs.

I do not wanna hurt them much as there are few good people working for them. Still I will give them rating on 1 or 0 for the following reason. I would leave it up to your decision if I was right in giving this rating. I wanted to buy Mercedes Benz from them. The I paid downpayment of $5000 on Tuesday and the sales representative said the car will be on hold for me till following Monday. I decided to take possession of car on Friday. Too my surprize, they sold the car to someone else on Thursday. The biggest shocking thing is that they did not even bother to send me an email or text regarding it. I did not expect this kind of behavior from a certified dealer of Mercedes Benz. I am sure you will not expect this from them either. I later visited Don Jacobs BMW later in day and thanks to Gary (Sales representative at Don Jacobs), I drove home BMW 2015 by evening.

We are very sorry that this transaction evolved as it did. During the process or arranging credit terms, the lenders requested additional information that the client could not produce. Therefore, without approved financing from our lenders the purchase could not be completed. At that time, our business manager informed the client of this via phone and unfortunately the vehicle had to be put back on the market. Again, we are sorry for the sequence of events, but these are circumstances beyond our control. We have been an existing Mercedes-Benz franchise for over 50 years and pride ourselves on our level of customer care.
