An ideal car buying experience is one in which I request information on a given make and model from a dealer, present my trade-in accurately and get a detailed breakdown featuring competitive prices on both the new vehicle and the trade. In this idyllic scenario, no surprises pop up in the showroom and I stop by, sign some forms, and drive off with a new car. Courtesy Hyundai provided me my “perfect world” car buying experience. Stephen Doran and Rod Littles are quintessential professionals and responded to all of my requests promptly and fully. Both take great pride in their work and do immense credit both to themselves and Courtesy Hyundai. I would not hesitate to buy another car from Courtesy and neither should you. Also, everyone looking at purchasing a large luxury sedan should put the new Genesis on their short list. I have driven BMW 3,4 and 5 series as well as Lexus GS and IS; the Genesis is as good or better in all respects than each of these cars and costs significantly less. The dealership experience provided by Courtesy is just as premium as that at any BMW or Lexus dealer in the US.

I cry everyday I see my car. I feel I can compare my car buying experience at Courtesy Hyundai Tampa like an interrogation room. They break you down util you buy a car that they like not you and everyone is happy because they all just made commission off your mistake. Then after a few negative post the GM will let you come in to talk more prices to make more money off you. Seems fair?

They advertised today a new 2014 Hyunda Azera Limited for circa 23K. I received another followup email pitching the same car. I called and spoke to Barry Rosenstein, Internet Sales Manager and verified all of this. I arrived and he showed me an Azera base with chipped paint on the hood. I told him it was not the car advertised and he asked if I was calling him a liar. Said it was a type. I said it was false advertising. We started to leave and he checked with his manager and said he could put me in a Limited for the advertised price. I said fine and drove and and was ready to buy. He 'worked up' the price and including my trade was about 8K more. They now wanted 28K for the Limited. I told him that wasn't what he said and he said "can't give a LTD for that price". The pricing include a $699 dealer prep fee (which I expected but don't like) and a $1995 fee for a protection package (this pure profit to the dealer). I spoke with the sales manager and told him it was a bad experience and they both had all sorts of justifications and reason, and hey a third party mis-listed the car (though they did the same with four other cars). I said don't you think you should should correct it ("takes time") but I am in the website business and no it doesn't. This is a prime example of old school car selling, either unethical or ignorant approaches, and a model which will some day go out of business. If you buy a care NEVER care about MSRP. All you need to know is dealer cost (what they paid) plus hold backs/incentives and what sort of profit they need to make. More to the story but those are the highlights. Nasty experience.
