Luxury SUV Deals: April 2012
Some of today's best automotive deals are on luxury SUVs. The competitiveness of the increasingly popular segment forces many automakers to advertise large incentives and special offers on upscale SUVs in order to help sway buyers into picking their vehicles. We've rounded up some of the top special offers for April, taking special care to find both lease and purchase deals.
If you can stomach the oddball styling, Acura's ZDX crossover is available with several incentives in April. For qualified buyers looking to purchase the SUV, Acura is offering interest rates as low as 0.9 percent for up to 36 months, which undercuts many older rivals. But the best deals are available for car shoppers looking to lease their next SUV, as Acura is offering the ZDX for just $499 per month with $2,999 due at signing or $570 per month with nothing down - a rare offer among luxury vehicles. But in spite of excellent incentives on the ZDX, it will be hard for Acura to tempt buyers away from its more practical MDX, which is available throughout April with slightly lower lease payments.
Among BMW's three premium SUVs, the midsize X5 is the oldest - but it's also available with the best deals. According to the automaker, qualified car shoppers interested in purchasing the SUV can find interest rates as low as 1.9 percent on the X5 throughout April - far better than 2.9 percent on the extravagant X6 or 3.9 percent for the recently redesigned X3. BMW is even extending the low rate to our favorite X5, the diesel-powered xDrive35d, which achieves up to 26 miles per gallon in highway driving. Shoppers looking to lease will also find attractive offers on the 2012 X5, with monthly payments ranging from $569 per month for a base-level xDrive35i model to $759 per month for a well-equipped, V8-powered X5 xDrive50i.
In perusing this month's deals, we were surprised to learn Infiniti's recently released JX crossover is already available with several special offers in April. While Infiniti isn't advertising low interest rates for the new seven-passenger SUV, the automaker is touting zero-down leases with payments as low as $649 per month - a surprising offer on a brand new vehicle. For shoppers interested in an even lower payment, Infiniti is advertising JX lease prices as low as $549 per month with $3,400 due at signing, or just $10 per month more for buyers looking for the comfort and safety of all-wheel drive.
After launching a revised version of its compact GLK SUV at this month's New York Auto Show, Mercedes is doing its part to sell down inventories of the current model. Through the end of April, the automaker is advertising its smallest SUV with lease rates as low as $419 per month for 30 months, though shoppers must plunk down a whopping $4,603 down to lock in the low monthly payment. Those interested in the year-round capability of all-wheel drive must pay slightly more, as Mercedes says 4Matic versions of its compact GLK start at $439 per month with $4,623 due up front.
Although we normally wouldn't expect any special deals on a vehicle as new as the compact Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover is offering a low interest rate to car shoppers throughout April. According to the automaker, qualified buyers can purchase the SUV with 1.9 percent interest for up to 36 months, providing at least some edge over typical rates from lenders. The automaker is also extending its 1.9 percent offer throughout its entire product lineup, which includes the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport as well as the midsize LR4 and compact LR2.
What it means to you: Although prices may look steep at first glance, there are many great deals available on today's crop of luxury SUVs.
