Minivan Deals: March 2012
If you're in the hunt for a new minivan, you're certainly not alone. Last year, American car buyers purchased more than 470,000 new minivans - nearly twice the number of large SUVs sold during the same period. So it's easy to see why automakers are fiercely competitive with their minivans and constantly adding new features and enhancements. But with so many good vans to choose from - and so many options available - it can be hard to find the perfect minivan. At least we can make it easy to find a great deal on a new minivan with these special offers and incentives available through the end of March.
Chrysler Town & Country
Although sales of the Chrysler Town & Country have slowed in recent years due to the arrival of newer challengers like the redesigned Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna, Chrysler's popular minivan still remains one of the best vans on the market. Through the end of March, it's also available with several great deals including zero percent interest rates for up to 36 months and monthly lease payments starting at $299 with $2,999 due at signing. Chrysler made sure buyers with cash in hand (or with a loan from their bank or credit union) will also get a great deal by offering up to $1,500 cash back on most models - an incentive not matched by most competitors.
The popular Honda Odyssey is available with several offers throughout March. The base-level Odyssey LX offers few frills, but it is available at a very affordable lease rate of just $299 per month for 36 months with $1,999 due at signing - one of the best minivan lease deals available. Shoppers looking to finance their Odyssey instead can qualify for interest rates as low as 0.9 percent for up to 36 months or 1.9 percent for up to 60 months, not bad for a highly-praised, newly redesigned minivan with a great record for safety and reliability.
The Mazda5 is one of our favorite vehicles for a variety of reasons. While it's a good alternative to many compact cars thanks to its small size, fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engine and sub-$20,000 base price, the Mazda5's dual sliding doors and seating for six mean it's also a great minivan for families on a budget. And through the end of March, it's an even better choice for growing families thanks to 0.9 percent interest rates for up to 60 months or lease payments as low as $279 per month with $2,874 due at signing. While it may not have the size of some of its larger minivan competitors, the Mazda5 remains a serious contender for families who truly want a mini van.
Although Nissan continues to struggle for a stronger foothold in the minivan market, we think the newly redesigned Quest might be the automaker's best entry yet. In addition to offering a long list of standard features and a powerful V6, the Nissan Quest also boasts unique styling that helps its owners stand out from the typical minivan crowd or carpool lane. Best of all, the Quest is also a great deal through the end of March thanks to zero percent interest rates for up to 36 months on all 2012 models and up to 60 months on all remaining 2011 inventory. The Quest is also available with lease rates starting at $299 per month with $2,999 due at signing, making an already impressive van even more compelling buy this month.
It's easy to see why the recently redesigned Toyota Sienna was the most popular minivan in America last year. In addition to offering a host of standard safety features like side-curtain airbags and active head restraints, the attractive minivan is competitively priced and remains the only van available with all-wheel drive. Through the end of March, Toyota is also advertising the Sienna with several attractive deals including 0.9 percent interest rates for up to 60 months or monthly lease payments on a 2011 Sienna as low as $289 with $2,999 due at signing. Although both deals are enticing, we're most taken by the cheap finance offer - especially since it also applies to the 2012 Sienna.
What it means to you: Today's minivans are better than ever - and thanks to a variety of incentives, they're also surprisingly affordable.
