2011 Buick Regal

The best deals on new cars are often on less popular models. While most car shoppers know about top-selling cars like the Toyota Camry, Ford F-series, Honda Pilot and Dodge Grand Caravan, many of today's best new vehicles are overlooked by car shoppers loyal to familiar brands and models. That's good news for buyers who are willing to take the road less traveled, as there are often deals to be had on slow-selling under-rated new cars. Here are five of the best incentives and special offers on some models we think deserve a second look.

2011 Buick Regal

While the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Ford Fusion duke it out for the title of America's best-selling midsize sedan, Buick's recently released Regal garners little attention despite being a serious contender. Featuring a standard 182-horsepower 4-cylinder engine capable of 30 miles per gallon on the highway, the 2011 Regal is competitively priced at just over $26,000 - especially considering the long list of standard equipment including 6-speed automatic transmission, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery with heated front seats and a CD/MP3 player with iPod capability. Now, Buick is making the Regal even more appealing by offering zero-percent financing on the Regal for 60 months through October 31.

2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid

With starting prices topping $51,000, the Tahoe Hybrid is often overlooked by car shoppers in favor of upscale SUVs from luxury brands like Mercedes, BMW and even platform-mate Cadillac Escalade. But Chevrolet's full-size SUV merits serious consideration given its surprisingly miserly fuel economy - around 20 miles per gallon in city driving and 23 mpg on the highway - and its long list of standard features like a navigation system with voice recognition, rearview camera, power adjustable pedals and leather upholstery with heated front seats. Through October 31, the Tahoe Hybrid is an even better deal thanks to zero percent financing for 60 months and $1,000 cash back - an offer GM is also extending to the mechanically identical GMC Yukon Hybrid.

2011 Ford Flex

Although the Ford Flex's unconventional styling my not appeal to everyone, the crossover's competitive price tag and generous standard equipment list leads us to believe it's overlooked far too often in favor of more traditional-looking competitors. In September, Ford is offering zero percent financing for up to 60 months and $1,000 cash back on the 2011 Flex SEL, which starts at just over $34,000. Standard features include an iPod adapter, Bluetooth, curtain side airbags, XM satellite radio, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate controls and dual power front seats - plus seating for seven. To us, that's a pretty good value - but if you long for the more traditional styling of an SUV, Ford is also making the same deal on its full-size Expedition.

2011 Mazda2

Despite a $14,000 base price, highway fuel economy numbers approaching 35 miles per gallon and a handsome four-door body style, the diminutive Mazda2 hatchback hasn't yet found its place with American consumers looking for an exciting, inexpensive small car. In September, the automaker hopes to change that by offering zero percent financing for up to 60 months on all Mazda2 models, which feature standard curtain side airbags, remote keyless entry, an iPod connection and power windows, locks and mirrors. Mazda is also extending its zero percent offer to several other models including the popular Mazda3 compact and CX-7 midsize SUV.

2011 Volkswagen Touareg

If it's a good lease deal you're after, Volkswagen is offering several good incentives throughout September. One of its best deals is on the 2012 Touareg, the automaker's midsize SUV, which offers high-quality, safe family transportation yet is often overlooked by car shoppers. Through the end of the month, VW is offering a $499 per month lease deal on the Touareg V6 with less than $3,000 due at signing - a surprisingly good value for a completely new model starting at nearly $45,000. Standard equipment is generous and includes a navigation system, dual-zone automatic climate controls, automatic headlights and an 8-speed automatic transmission, which is mated to a muscular 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V6.
