Audi has revealed its 2012 lineup - and it includes a powerful new engine for its flagship sedan. The luxury automaker recently announced updates and pricing for the new model year, including an all-new version of the upscale A8 sedan.

Starting from $133,500 and available only in long wheelbase guise, the new A8L W12 will serve as the luxury sedan's flagship model. Featuring a 500-horsepower, 6.3-liter 12-cylinder powerplant teamed with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive, Audi says the A8L W12 will reach 60 mph from standstill in just 4.4 seconds. Standard features include ventilated, massaging seats, a panoramic sunroof, the rear-seat entertainment system and Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

Completely redesigned for last year, a standard A8 featuring a 372-horsepower, 4.2-liter V8 and Quattro all-wheel drive starts at $78,750 for 2012. The long-wheelbase A8L adds nearly $6,000 to the bottom line, with 2012 prices starting at $84,700.

Aside from the A8's all-new flagship variant, much of the Audi lineup sees minor changes for 2012. Pricing for the automaker's compact A3 hatchback is unchanged for the new model year, with base-level 2.0T models offered from $27,270 and TDI clean diesel variants starting at $32,250. The base price for a 2012 A4 sedan has increased $300 since 2011, with 2012 models starting at $32,500, while the sporty A5 will also see a slight increase, jumping $200 for 2012 to start at $37,100.

Audi's midsize A6 exchanges its standard 3.2-liter V6 for a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine meant to help drop the model's base price and increase its fuel economy. At around 33 miles per gallon highway, the new engine certainly helps gas mileage - and with a base price of just $41,700, nearly $4,500 cheaper than last year's A6 3.2, it also succeeds in making Audi's midsize sedan more affordable. For 2012, the A6 3.0T retains its 300-horsepower supercharged V6 and remains priced from just under $50,000.

As pricing and details regarding the Audi R8, TT and A7 have already been released, the automaker's only other recent news relates to its SUVs. The midsize Q5 and larger Q7 SUVs will both see minor price jumps for 2012, with the Q5 starting at $35,600 and the Q7 at $46,250. Audi says its entire 2012 model range will arrive on dealer lots soon.
