For sale right now on AutoTrader is a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria cop car that was used to film the CSI TV show.

The car is owned by Motion Picture Vehicle Services out of Van Nuys, Calif. The company has been around since 2003 and supplies cars and trucks for many your favorite TV shows and movies.

According to Andy Price, who works for the company, MPVS supplies movie sets with any number of ambulances, vans and police cars for filming. MPVS provides the cars for all three CSI shows, but this particular Crown Vic was featured as the 'hero car' in the original Las Vegas show.

The car being sold today is the Police Interceptor version of Ford's iconic Crown Victoria. These models come with an upgraded suspension, heavy duty steel wheels and other strengthened components that are designed to handle the rigors of day to day police work.

The car, has been stripped of any lights, sirens or decals that may confuse people into thinking it is an active police car, but under the hood, the car is ready for service. The Police Interceptor models come with a 4.6 liter engine that puts out 26 more horsepower than the civilian model.

The Police Interceptor cars were never really sold to the public, but some do end up in civilian hands after they have served long, hard lives as squad cars.

The car is so seldom sold to the public that KBB doesn't offer price quotes for the police models. Estimated value for a normal Crown Vic is $16,900 - well above the TV car's asking price.

Ford canceled production of the Crown Victoria this year and the last car rolled off Ford's assembly line earlier this month. Police departments all over the country are making the transition into other models of cars, so this may well be one of the last opportunities to get a hold of a low mileage Police Interceptor, let alone one with such a unique Hollywood past.
