When it comes to special editions, certain cars usually lend themselves to having all sorts of derivatives based off of its platform. Typically, the quirkier the better, allowing some of the more vibrant colors usually featured in special editions to not look so out of place. Kia's Soul would be a perfect example, and Kia has taken advantage of that, now coming out with seven special editions of the funky hatch.

The latest in the line is the Soul Red Rocks. First seen as a concept at last year's New York Auto Show, the Red Rocks received enough praise for Kia to make it a production car. While not extremely different from the traditional Soul, the Red Rocks main difference is the Canyon exterior paint color. Said to be inspired by the rock formations of America's southwest, the red-and-brown paint has a deep luster to it. Other exterior changes are a black front fascia and side mirror housings. Inside, the Red Rocks is the only Soul model to sport black leather trim and brown cloth seats, the front two of which are heated. Automatic climate control is also an added feature.

The Red Rocks is available immediately and will cost $20,600. That figure, however, does not include the $750 destination charge and applicable fees.

What it means to you: If you want a Kia Soul that's even funkier than the standard one, there are plenty of special editions to choose from. The Red Rocks tips its hat to the American Southwest, while featuring a stunning exterior color.
