  • Toyota offering a $650 discount on the $5,015 package
  • Package includes increased ride height and improved suspension
  • Tacoma models equipped with the package start at $33,800

Truck shoppers who act now can get a good deal on a distinctive new version of Toyota's midsize Tacoma pickup thanks to a recently announced incentive. The Tacoma TRD T/X Baja Series package will be available in May for just $4,365 - a $650 discount off the normal price.

While a $650 discount may not seem like a major incentive, the special offer is noteworthy because the brand new package is sure to make a splash among serious off-road enthusiasts. Unique items in the package include a TRD cat-back exhaust, 16-inch off-road wheels, an increased ride height, unique Baja series graphics and an upgraded suspension designed to help conquer rough trails.

Toyota says the package was inspired by the Tacoma's off-road racing heritage, particularly at competitions like the annual Baja 1000, which takes place in the desert of Mexico's Baja California peninsula. Undoubtedly, it was also helped into production by the success of Ford's highly capable F-150 SVT Raptor, which features similar off-road ready upgrades and aggressive styling updates like a new grille and widened fenders.

Truck shoppers interested in taking advantage of the $650 discount will find that the least expensive Tacoma equipped with the exclusive package starts at $33,800 including destination - a major boost over the Tacoma Access Cab's base price of just $25,865 with shipping. That's because Toyota requires that buyers also order the $3,570 TRD Off-Road package in conjunction with the T/X Baja Series package, leading to a substantial price premium - one that rises to $34,785 for buyers interested in an automatic transmission or $35,085 for truck shoppers who prefer Toyota's four-door Double Cab body style.

But for many off-road enthusiasts, the asking price of Toyota's Tacoma T/X Baja Series is well worth it - especially since it includes thousands of dollars in upgrades in one factory-warrantied package. The package also gives the Tacoma with a muscular new look, and - thanks to the automaker's $650 rebate - a surprisingly good value for truck shoppers interested in getting the most bang for their buck.

What it means to you: Off-road enthusiasts and truck lovers interested in the T/X Baja Series package should act quickly to take advantage of Toyota's new offer.
