  • LA Auto Show Chevrolet display revealed
  • Spark EV, updated MyLink to debut
  • Other upcoming models also to be shown

Chevrolet will make a splash at this year's LA Auto Show. The brand has announced its lineup for the show, which includes an electric version of the tiny Spark. An updated MyLink infotainment system will also be shown.

The biggest news is the new Spark EV. The hatch will be a fully electric plug-in. That means it won't have a backup gas engine like the Chevrolet Volt. Instead, Chevrolet says it will have a 130-horsepower electric motor that makes a powerful 400 lb-ft of torque. That will be good for quick 0-to-60 runs of less than seven seconds.

But the Spark EV will offer more than good performance. Chevrolet says a new "combo charger" will charge 80 percent of the Spark's battery in just 20 minutes. That's far better than rivals such as the Nissan Leaf and Ford Focus Electric, which can take five or more hours to charge. Range is unknown, though Chevrolet says it will be "among the best in the segment."

Also unknown are changes made to the Spark EV's styling. While a teaser photo gives a hint of its look, we won't see it in full until LA. We expect major changes--like new wheels and body panels--to set it apart. An interior teaser shows an electronic gauge cluster with a full color screen.

Chevrolet's other big debut in LA will be an updated MyLink infotainment system. Chevrolet says the new MyLink will feature new tech and improved smartphone integration. It will debut on the 2014 Impala, which goes on sale early next year.

Chevrolet will also show a few other models in LA. The new Impala and revised Traverse, which debuted last year in New York, will be shown. The brand will also show its upcoming Malibu Turbo and Sonic RS. And the Chevrolet display will be enhanced by the Camaro HotWheels Edition, which was shown last month at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

What it means to you: The LA Auto Show Chevrolet display features new and exciting products.
