We recently reported that Volvo is discontinuing its S40 and V50 models, but those aren't the automaker's only changes for the 2012 model year. Volvo just announced updates to the rest of its lineup for 2012, including finalized pricing, new options, new trim levels and a host of other changes.

C30

Volvo's smallest car, the C30, gains standard Bluetooth for 2012, as well as a standard center armrest for the backseat and an alarm. Multimedia and Preferred option packages are gone for 2012 in favor of two new packages for T5 models: Premier Plus, which includes power seats, LED running lights and aluminum interior accents, and Platinum, which adds a navigation system and satellite radio. The C30's $24,700 base MSRP is unchanged for 2012.

C70

The C70 hardtop convertible also gets standard Bluetooth, and adds its own Premier Plus and Platinum option packages to replace last year's Multimedia and Convenience option groups. Premier Plus includes HomeLink, rear park assist, an integrated compass and automatically dimming mirrors, while Platinum adds a navigation system. At $39,950, C70 pricing is also unchanged for 2012.

S60

The S60 was completely redesigned for 2011, but still gets some significant updates for 2012, including a new 250-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder base engine. That new engine comes with a significantly lower starting price, just $30,975, compared to $37,700 in 2011 when the 300-horsepower T6 was the only model in the S60's range.

S80 and XC70

The most significant changes to the S80 luxury sedan and XC70 crossover are new optional safety features including a pedestrian detection system and adaptive cruise control. Now standard on both models is a 7-inch color screen featuring a new multimedia system called Sensus. Pricing for both the XC70 and S80 increased slightly compared to 2011 versions.

XC60

Volvo has also made several changes to its SUVs for 2012. The XC60 now offers wood interior trim, and has dropped its Multimedia, Convenience and Premium packages. The discontinued packages have been replaced with Premier Plus and Platinum option groups, similar to Volvo's other models. The R-Design package has also been dropped from 3.2-liter models, however, an R-Design package is now available on the XC60 T6. The XC60's MSRP is unchanged for 2012.

XC90

Changes to Volvo's larger SUV, the XC90, follow the revisions made to other models. Bluetooth is now standard and Premier Plus and Platinum packages have been added to the SUV's options mix. However, the 2012 XC90 offers one more noteworthy change: its Yamaha-sourced V8, Volvo's first-ever eight-cylinder, has been discontinued, leaving the SUV to soldier on with just the 235-horsepower 3.2-liter V6. Price on the XC90 also stays the same for 2012.
