2014 Chevrolet Impala: New York Auto Show
- Chevrolet unveils the 2014 Impala at this year's New York Auto Show
- The all-new full-size sedan features three engine options
- The 10th generation, 2014 Impala goes on sale late 2013
The Chevrolet Impala stands as one of America's longest-enduring automotive nameplates. The Impala, Chevrolet's flagship model, sold over 170,000 units in 2011, making it the best-selling full-size sedan in America.
With modern, direct-injected drivetrain options, the 2014 Impala proves full-size sedans needn't be gas-guzzlers. Engine options include a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder with eAssist (producing 182 horsepower and achieving 35 mpg highway), an Ecotec 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder (producing 195 horsepower) and a 3.6-liter V6 (producing 303 horsepower). All engine options are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Importantly, the 2014 Impala is both fuel efficient and powerful.
The new Impala body design marks a return to a more aggressive and athletic look that helped distinguish the classic nameplate for decades. The Impala features a range of wheel options: 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels are available to tailor the vehicle stance to customer taste.
On the interior, the Impala features Chevrolet's signature dual-cockpit design motif that puts more emphasis on material quality and attention to detail. Chevrolet improved sound deadening, technology and safety features in the Impala as well. The full suite of safety features include: full-speed-range adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert and side blind zone alert.
The 2014 Impala will be offered in LS, LT and LTZ models, with assembly in Detroit-Hamtramck, Michigan and Oshawa, Ontario. Although pricing will be announced later, 2014 Impalas are scheduled to enter showrooms in late 2013.
What it means to you: Chevrolet breathes new life into its full-size, flagship sedan with an athletic new design coupled with fuel-efficient powertrain options.
