2014 Chevrolet Silverado Adds High Country Trim Level
- Silverado adds upscale High Country trim
- Features leather and unique exterior trim
- Pricing will likely start below similar Sierra Denali
The recently redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is adding a new high-end trim level. Dubbed High Country, the new trim includes a long list of luxury features. Most importantly, however, it adds upscale styling touches that set it apart from the typical Silverado.
According to Chevrolet, the new High Country trim slots above last year's top-end Silverado LTZ model. That places it on par with the Sierra Denali from fellow General Motors brand GMC. Pricing for the Silverado High Country is likely to fall just below the Sierra Denali's MSRP, which starts around $46,000.
Outside, the Silverado High Country is clearly distinct from a standard Silverado. That's because the pickup features a huge chrome grille and unique body-colored front and rear bumpers. It also offers exceptional 20-inch wheels. Various other chrome pieces adorn the exterior, from the door handles to the rearview mirrors.
Inside, the Silverado High Country offers several more changes from a standard model. Front seats are heated and cooled, while the entire interior is covered in saddle brown leather. The truck also features wood paneling on its doors and center console. Lastly, contrast stitching completes the upscale feel.
Chevrolet says the Silverado High Country will only be offered as a 4-door crew cab. The automaker will offer 2- and 4-wheel drive, as well as the brand's two V8 engines: a 5.3-liter and an available 6.2-liter. Finally, buyers can choose between three different bed lengths: five feet, six-and-a-half feet and eight feet.
The Silverado High Country makes sense for Chevrolet, since GM says 30 percent of pickups now sell for more than $40,000. In addition to the Sierra Denali, nearly all Silverado rivals offer a luxury trim level. RAM buyers can get the Laramie Longhorn, for example, while the top-level Toyota Tundra is the leather-trimmed Platinum. Ford offers two upscale trims on its F-150 pickup: the Lariat and the range-topping King Ranch.
Though Chevrolet has not yet announced a release date for the Silverado High Country, we expect the truck will go on sale this summer.
What it means to you: The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country is the most luxurious way to experience the latest Silverado.
