2014 Honda Accord Coupe Offered with Limited-Edition Performance Package
- Limited-edition Honda Factory Performance package
- Upgraded wheels, sport suspension and aerodynamic elements included
- Available for $4,620 on Honda Accord Coupe V6
Honda introduced a new, limited-edition package available only on the Accord Coupe V6. Called Honda Factory Performance (HFP), the $4,620 equipment group includes upgrades such as a sport suspension and an aero kit, and is aimed at both better handling and a more distinctive appearance. Honda will limit sales of the 2013 HFP Accord to 500 units.
Honda says its North American racing company tested the HFP-equipped car alongside a stock Honda Accord Coupe V6 and found the HFP to be both quicker and more stable on a track. Honda says the HFP Accord's lowered, sport-tuned suspension contributes to better handling. Bigger wheels (19-inch) wearing stickier summer tires surely help, too.
The Honda Factory Performance package brings distinctive styling as well. For the exterior, there's a deck-lid spoiler, underbody spoilers for the front, rear and sides, and an HFP badge for the trunk. Inside, the package adds red illumination and floor mats with HFP badges.
Because the package is factory-approved and engineered to be compatible with the Honda Accord Coupe, it's covered by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty when installed at the time of sale. The package may provide a better choice than aftermarket performance upgrades for another reason, too: Its cost can be financed with the new vehicle's loan.
HFP is dealer-installed, with dealers charging separately for installation. The lowest MSRP for a V6-powered Honda Accord Coupe is $30,350 before destination charge. Add HFP, and the price is nearly $35,000, not including the $790 destination charge and any installation charge for HFP.
Most items on the list are available as stand-alone options; the sport suspension is the notable exception. But buying the HFP package is less expensive than specifying the special wheels, spoilers and interior illumination as individual accessories.
What it means to you: For less than $5,000, the limited-edition HFP brings better performance to the 2013 Honda Accord Coupe V6 with a sport suspension, 19-in wheels and summer tires.
