What is it?

The Honda Odyssey is a popular minivan that offers three-row seating, a 248-horsepower V6 and a standard automatic transmission. The updated 2014 Honda Odyssey gets a revised interior, an updated exterior and several new comfort and convenience features. Perhaps the most useful important addition to the new Odyssey is an industry-first vacuum onboard cleaner, which will help with cleaning up after messy kids.

How much?

Honda hasn't announced pricing for the Odyssey, but we expect its base price to remain similar to today's $29,500 figure.

When can you get it?

The new Odyssey should go on sale this summer.

Add it to your shopping list because...

The current Odyssey is already very popular with minivan-driving families. The latest model offers new styling inside and out to keep it competitive. It also includes a host of new features, including a built-in vacuum cleaner, dubbed HondaVAC. The system was developed with Shop-Vac and comes standard on the high-end Odyssey Touring Elite. The new Odyssey also offers an updated interior. It features new gadgets like push-button start, cloud-based infotainment and HD radio. For safety-conscious families, the 2014 Honda Odyssey also adds lane departure warning and forward collision warning systems to its options list.

Other cars to consider:

Chrysler Town & Country - The Town & Country comes standard with a rear seat DVD player and power sliding doors. Resale value isn't as good as the Odyssey, but there are often better deals available.

Nissan Quest - The highly versatile Quest offers a great value for shoppers who don't mind its unusual styling. In addition to a low base price, the Quest is often available with strong incentives from Nissan.

Toyota Sienna - The Sienna is one of the Odyssey's top competitors. While it doesn't offer a vacuum cleaner, its starting price is around $2,000 less than the Odyssey's.

Used Ford Flex - Ford's upscale Flex crossover isn't really a minivan. But it does boast a low entry height thanks to car-based platform. That means it offers a minivan-like driving experience. And for those who like extra oomph, it's also available with Ford's powerful EcoBoost V6.
