  • The 2014 Jaguar F-Type starts at $69,875.
  • The 380-horsepower F-Type S starts at $81,975.
  • The sporty F-Type V8 S starts at $92,875.

Jaguar officially announced pricing for its upcoming F-Type in a new online configurator that lets shoppers choose options and visualize the stylish drop-top. According to the luxury brand, the F-Type starts at $69,875 with destination in base-level V6 form--a figure that can climb to $92,875 before options for the high-performance F-Type V8 S.

With a starting price of $69,875, the base-level F-Type boasts a 340-hp supercharged 3.0-liter V6 capable of propelling the sedan to 60 miles per hour from a standing stop in 5.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of 161 mph. The base-level F-Type also includes a 10-speaker Meridian audio system, sport exhaust, leather upholstery and a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel with shift paddles.

Drivers interested in slightly improved performance can step up to the F-Type S, which offers a 380-hp version of the same supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that motivates the standard F-Type. With a starting price of $81,975, the F-Type S features an active sport exhaust, larger wheels, and improved performance numbers, such as a 4.8-second 0-to-60 time, and a top speed in excess of 170 mph.

Topping the F-Type's range is the high-performance F-Type V8 S, which starts at $92,875 with shipping and offers a long list of sporty features, such as an active differential to improve handling and a dynamic mode designed to boost performance. The F-Type V8 S also includes the automaker's supercharged 5.0-liter V8, which produces a tremendous 495 hp and propels the convertible to 60 mph from a standing stop in just 4.2 seconds.

According to Jaguar, the F-Type will slot below the larger XK 2-door in its growing lineup. But while the XK is available as a convertible or a coupe, the F-Type is only offered as a convertible. Like its larger XK stablemate, however, the F-Type will only offer a soft top, bucking the growing trend of retractable hardtops that have seen use in many convertibles, from the $31,000 Mazda MX-5 Miata PRHT to the wildly powerful $300,000-plus Ferrari 458 Spider.

Revealed last month at the Paris Auto Show, the F-Type will go on sale in the United States next summer. Competitors will range from the BMW Z4, Mercedes SLK and Porsche Boxster, which start around $50,000, to more expensive models like the BMW 6 Series, Mercedes SL-Class and even base-level versions of the Porsche 911.

What it means to you: The stylish 2014 Jaguar F-Type is likely to find scores of buyers thanks to its attractive styling and impressive performance.
