ADDITIONAL MODEL INFORMATION
2014 Cadillac Escalade

  • All-new Escalade to start at $72,690
  • Mid-level Escalade Luxury starts at $76,690; Platinum at $81,190
  • 2015 Escalade boasts a new look inside and out

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade will start at $72,690 when it reaches dealers this spring. That's the latest from Cadillac, which unveiled the redesigned full-size luxury SUV -- now entering its fourth generation -- in October.

With its new price tag, the 2015 Escalade sees a base price increase of around $3,700 over the outgoing 2014 model. That's a big number for one model year, as most automakers typically keep price increases to around $1,000 per year. But the 2015 Escalade's changes are far from typical.

On the outside, the 2015 Escalade boasts completely new styling that closely follows Cadillac's "edgy" design theme. That means the SUV offers sharper lines and more angles. There's also a huge grille, large taillights and massive wheel arches -- all designed to give the Escalade a bold, muscular presence.

But the biggest changes to the 2015 Escalade come on the inside, where the SUV ditches its former truck-based roots for a luxurious, carlike interior. There's a stylish, modern dashboard, a center console with capacitive touch controls and an LCD screen mounted in the gauge cluster. Of course, the Escalade also comes complete with leather upholstery across all three rows of seats.

With its near-$73,000 base price, Cadillac concedes the Escalade's starting price is more expensive than ever. But the brand notes that the SUV also offers more standard equipment than ever before. Newly standard items include Magnetic Ride Control, 20-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights and taillights. There's also a new 6.2-liter V8 that makes 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Beyond the base-level Escalade, Cadillac will offer two other models. Starting at $76,690, the mid-level Escalade Luxury will add 22-in wheels, a head-up display and a lane-departure warning system. Topping the range is the $81,190 Escalade Platinum, which includes a rear-seat entertainment system and adaptive cruise control.

Drivers who want to add all-wheel drive will have to pay an additional $2,600 on top of the SUV's base price, while the extended-length Escalade ESV will also command a yet-unannounced price premium over the standard model.

What it means to you: The 2015 Cadillac Escalade is pricey, but thanks to the SUV's new interior and cutting-edge styling, Cadillac fans will likely pay the premium.
