What Is It?

The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze is an updated version of today's Cruze compact sedan, which went on sale for the 2011 model year. While revisions to the Cruze are mostly minor, this year's changes will still help keep the sedan current in the increasingly competitive compact-car segment.

Inside and out, the Cruze receives minor but noticeable changes. On the outside, there's a fresh new grille with a more angular shape derived from Chevrolet's midsize Malibu sedan. Upper-level Cruze trims also add LED running lights below the headlights. Inside, Chevrolet says it has enlarged the Cruze's cupholders and moved around a few switches.

Maybe the biggest changes are coming to the Cruze's infotainment system. An LTE connection now allows the car to be used as a Wi-Fi hotspot, while the infotainment system works together with Bluetooth to read a driver's text messages out loud. Other infotainment changes include more USB ports and Siri Eyes Free voice controls for iPhone users with iOS 6 or 7.

How Much?

Chevrolet hasn't announced pricing, but we'd expect to see the 2015 Cruze start at around $18,500 with shipping, which isn't much different from a 2014 model.

When Can You Get It?

Fall 2014

Add It to Your Shopping List Because...

The Chevrolet Cruze is already one of the better compact cars, and updates for 2015 merely keep it on top of its game. Interior updates address driver complaints about switch locations, while exterior changes will keep the sedan looking fresh for a few more model years. We're also happy that Chevrolet is keeping current with the latest technology by updating the Cruze's infotainment system. In all, the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze is a worthy competitor to popular rivals.

Other Cars to Consider

Ford Focus -- Also updated for 2015, the Focus boasts modern infotainment technology and a litany of advanced safety features. We're also excited to sample its new 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine.

Honda Civic -- Always near the top of the compact-car segment, the Civic boasts a straightforward interior and simple controls. It's a reliable, durable compact car that you can count on, and it doesn't hurt that the Civic gets excellent gas mileage.

Mazda3 -- The Mazda3 is our favorite compact car. It offers excellent handling and boasts strong fuel economy and a long list of available equipment. We also like the fact that it comes as a sedan or as a more practical 5-door hatchback.
