2015 Ford F-150: Detroit Auto Show - Video
Ford had the biggest debut at this year's Detroit Auto Show. The world's best-selling full-size truck got a total redesign, and it looks like the new 2015 Ford F-150 will be as smart as it is tough.
Under the Skin
A new military-grade aluminum alloy frame has helped the F-150 shed over 700 pounds, upping fuel efficiency, payload and towing capacity. Losing that weight will boost acceleration and braking capability, and give the truck overall better handling.
Ford knows its customers like choice and capability, so the new F-150 will be offered in five trim levels, three cab configurations and four engine options: a new 2.7-liter EcoBoost, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost, a 3.5-liter V6 or a 5-liter V8.
Exterior & Interior
The exterior is more athletic-looking with a wider stance and muscular grille. Inside, features like HD color screens, USB ports and high-wattage power outlets for charging tools or mobile devices make the F-150 feel more like a mobile office.
When it comes to hauling and towing, the new F-150 has a ton of class-exclusive features: a seamlessly designed tailgate step, integrated loading ramps and remote tailgate, just to name a few.
The payload design is also impressive with its integrated LED lighting and new patented cargo management system.
And, of course, Ford's offering plenty of driving and towing assist features, such as a new 360-degree camera system, Dynamic Hitch Assist, plus the popular Lane Keeping and Blind Spot Warning Systems.
Bottom line: If you're in the market for a full-size truck and can wait until the new 2015 Ford F-150 hits the dealership later this fall, you'll be glad you did.
