ADDITIONAL MODEL INFORMATION
2014 Ford Mustang

  • 2015 Ford Mustang will offer 305 hp, 310 hp or 435 hp
  • Engines include a 3.7-liter V6, a turbocharged 4-cylinder or a V8
  • Pricing will start from $24,600 when the Mustang reaches dealers this fall

Ford has finally confirmed horsepower numbers for its highly awaited 2015 Mustang sports car. The automaker recently announced power figures for all three of the new Mustang's engines: a base-level 3.7-liter V6, a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder and a muscular 5.0-liter V8.

As expected, the 3.7-liter V6 offers the least power of the three engines. That powerplant produces 305 hp (down five horses from last year's V6) and an impressive 280 lb-ft of torque. This will be the Mustang's entry-level engine, available to shoppers who don't want to spend extra money to get more power.

For shoppers interested in a little more power and a lot more fuel efficiency, there's the 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder. That engine produces 310 hp, which makes it slightly more powerful than the larger V6. The EcoBoost widens the 4-cylinder's performance lead with its impressive torque figure, coming in at 320 lb-ft. In spite of the 4-cylinder's big numbers, Ford suggests that the EcoBoost will be the most efficient engine in the Mustang's range, thanks to its relatively smaller size.

At the top of the Mustang range is the V8-powered GT model, which offers a 5.0-liter powerplant and an outlet for drivers with a sharp eye on high performance. That engine makes an impressive 435 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, which is 15 hp and 10 lb-ft more than it made in the outgoing Mustang.

Although Ford hasn't recently announced any other pertinent Mustang details, the automaker has already revealed most of the sports car's important traits. Pricing, for instance, will start around $24,600 for the base model or $26,200 for the EcoBoost; the V8-powered Mustang GT will start around $33,100. Ford has also announced available features -- including Recaro seats, adaptive cruise control and a performance-enhancing limited-slip differential -- ahead of the Mustang's arrival later this fall.

What it means to you: Just as we suspected, Ford has finally confirmed that the 2015 Ford Mustang offers big power at a bargain price.
