2015 Ford Mustang Official Images Leaked Ahead of TV Debut
- 2015 Ford Mustang leaked ahead of "Good Morning America" debut
- Photos were posted on Internet forum Mustang6G.com
- Latest Mustang incorporates subtle updates and many classic cues
Photos of the all-new Ford Mustang have leaked on to the Internet two days before the sports car's scheduled unveiling on live television. The images, posted Tuesday on a Mustang enthusiast forum, show the sports car from several angles and even include an interior shot.
The scoop came from Mustang forum Mustang6G.com, where a member posted photos from the December 9, 2013, issue of Autoweek, a weekly automotive magazine. The issue was likely expected to hit newsstands after the Mustang's debut, but managed to leak on to the web before the car was unveiled. The Mustang fan site even has much clearer photos that appear to have been taken at Ford’s high-security proving grounds in Michigan.
You might think no one but hardcore Mustang enthusiasts will care about this kind of info, but anyone shopping for a performance coupe should take notice. With pics of the 2015 Mustang making their way to the public, this might be a great time to get a great deal on a 2014 Mustang or even a Camaro or Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
In order to stay competitive, mid-priced sports coupes will likely come with an increasing number of incentives the closer the new Mustang gets to it's official on sale date.
The new Mustang won't be on sale immediately, but those who want the newest and latest will probably hold off on whatever purchase they were considering.
With photos already on the Internet, it's unlikely that the Mustang's big television debut will create as much fanfare as Ford initially hoped. The automaker initially planned to give the public its first glimpse of the all-new Mustang on Thursday during the popular ABC morning show "Good Morning America."
Instead, many car enthusiasts have already seen the 2015 Mustang -- and voiced positive and negative opinions about the model's all-new design. However, the GMA debut will certainly impress the general public, so Ford's strategy will still generate lots of buzz.
While the latest Mustang boasts new features like an updated front and rear end, new headlights and taillights, and a revised interior, it still features several Mustang-specific design cues. Such items include the car's unique taillights, a wide, flat hood, and the Mustang's classic fastback shape.
Interestingly, the Mustang's new look won't be a surprise to many car enthusiasts. That's because various computer generated renderings of the car's latest shape -- including several that we recently shared -- did an excellent job capturing the its final appearance.
Mustang buyers should be able to pick from two or even three engines – an EcoBoost 4 cylinder, Ford's recently revamped 3.7 liter V6 and a 5.0 liter V8 for GT models.
Still, Ford likely isn't pleased that an Internet leak stole the thunder of its scheduled unveiling. On the other hand, even more folks are likely to tune into to Thursday's GMA broadcast to check the car out.
Either way, leaks are common in the automotive world, where shoppers want up-to-the-minute information and news outlets are all vying to be first with a breaking story. They're so common, in fact, that many industry insiders were surprised Chevrolet was able to keep photographs of its newly released Corvette from leaking before the car's unveiling last year, considering the model's heavy media attention.
While our 2015 Mustang knowledge is limited, keep checking back for more updates. We'll have them as Ford unveils more details about its hotly anticipated sports car.
What it means to you: The 2015 Ford Mustang is coming -- and thanks to an Internet leak, we now know exactly what it looks like.
