  • Lincoln's new MKC will start at $33,995 with shipping
  • Trim levels are Premiere, Select and Reserve
  • MKC will offer a long list of standard and optional features

The 2015 Lincoln MKC will start at $33,995 with shipping when it goes on sale this summer. That's the latest from upscale Ford brand Lincoln, which recently confirmed base pricing and available options for the compact MKC luxury crossover.

The MKC's base price covers the entry-level Premiere model, which is one of the crossover's three trim levels. Lincoln will also offer a mid-level MKC Select, priced from $37,225, and a range-topping MKC Reserve, which starts at $40,930 with shipping.

For shoppers interested in the MKC Premiere, Lincoln plans to offer a long list of standard equipment. In addition to a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the MKC Premiere's base price will include automatic headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, dual-power front seats and a remote starter. Standard safety features include rear park assist, side-curtain airbags and a reversing camera.

Shoppers who step up to the mid-level MKC Select get a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-folding mirrors and a universal garage door opener. More important, however, they can get a 275-hp 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder in place of the standard 2.0-liter engine. And Select models open up new options, such as a voice-activated navigation system, heated rear seats, rain-sensing wipers and a blind spot system with rear cross-traffic alert.

At the top of the MKC's range is the high-end Reserve model, which boasts cooled front seats, a power rear lift gate, a large Vista Roof sunroof and a voice-activated navigation system. The Reserve is also offered with a choice between the 240- and 275-hp engines, though it offers new options such as front park assist, adaptive cruise control and forward-collision warning.

With the MKC, Lincoln is entering the newly created -- and highly popular -- compact luxury crossover segment. Rivals will include the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Lexus's upcoming CX crossover. Based on the recently released Ford Escape, the Lincoln MKC is smaller than Lincoln's other SUVs, the midsize MKX and the full-size Navigator

What it means to you: The 2015 Lincoln MKC offers cutting-edge styling and a long list of equipment. But is it enough to get status-conscious buyers to consider a Lincoln?
