2015 Subaru BRZ Adds All-New Model
- Subaru is adding a special-edition Series.Blue model to its BRZ lineup
- Production limited to 1,000 units; blue and white exterior colors available
- Series.Blue offers mostly cosmetic upgrades; starts from $30,285
The 2015 Subaru BRZ isn't getting the extra power that most drivers covet. Instead, Subaru has announced that it will soon add a Series.Blue model to its BRZ lineup -- and while this model will look noticeably different from the standard BRZ, nothing will have changed under its hood. Production of this limited-edition model will cap at 1,000 units.
Several changes have been made to the Series.Blue's exterior, each of which is immediately obvious when compared to the standard BRZ. Sold only in World Rally Blue Pearl and Crystal White Pearl, the coupe has been updated with an STI body kit that adds sporty ground effects to the front, back and sides of the car. Other exterior updates include upgraded alloy wheels, performance exhaust tips and brake calipers that are painted red.
Upgrades and revisions continue inside the BRZ Series.Blue. The car's steering wheel has been wrapped in blue and black leather, complementing the blue center console trim, blue door trim, standard blue seats and blue-stitched floor mats. In addition, the Series.Blue adds carbon-fiber trim to the BRZ's dashboard.
Interestingly, the BRZ Series.Blue doesn't quite offer as many updates under the skin. As with the Scion FR-S, its mechanical twin, the 2015 BRZ boasts re-tuned suspension that's designed to enhance your driving experience. But that change isn't limited to the Series.Blue model. In fact, the Series.Blue doesn't have any unique performance features as compared to the standard BRZ, though Subaru says the STI body kit slightly reduces the car's overall drag coefficient.
According to Subaru, the manual-only BRZ Series.Blue will start at $30,285 when it reaches dealers in July. That places the Series.Blue at the top of the BRZ's lineup, ahead of the BRZ Premium and the BRZ Limited, which start at $26,500 and $28,500, respectively.
What it means to you: The 2015 Subaru BRZ Series.Blue offers a few upgrades over the standard model -- but not the extra horsepower many drivers were hoping for.
