2015 Subaru WRX: LA Auto Show - Video
The 2015 Subaru WRX has a more refined exterior, losing some of its street-racing attitude in favor of a more conservative look. There are no wheel flares; the hood scoop has a more integrated look; and the overall design fits together nicely.
Under the hood, you'll find a 2-liter turbocharged boxer 4-cylinder -- similar to the engine in the Subaru BRZ, but turbocharged. Horsepower is rated at 268 with 258 lb-ft of torque, but the rally inspired STI model will bring it closer to 300 hp. Zero-to-60 miles per hour times for the standard WRX will clock between 5.4 seconds and 5.9 seconds, depending on the transmission.
Concerning another development, the WRX will have a choice of two transmissions: a 6-speed manual, which was only previously available in the STI, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) instead of a conventional automatic transmission.
The 2015 Subaru WRX also benefits from electric power steering, up-rated brakes, a firmer suspension and, of course, the familiar Subaru all-wheel-drive setup.
We'll be seeing the new WRX at Subaru dealers next year, and prices are expected to come in north of $25,000.
