  • Redesigned Ford F-650 and F-750 revealed
  • The trucks boast new engines, new styling, other updates
  • The heavy-duty trucks are typically used in commercial settings

The 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 have officially been revealed. That's the latest from Ford, which showed the full-size trucks earlier this month at the annual NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Ind.

The biggest changes to the F-650 and F-750 are on the outside, where they've been revised with a new look based on the latest F-150, which was revealed earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show. Updates include new headlights, a new grille and a more angular look designed to closely resemble the F-150.

Other changes to the latest F-650 and F-750 are minimal. Ford says there's a new mesh grille for optimal cooling performance, while newly available PowerScope side mirrors make it easier to tow a trailer. Ford says that the area behind the truck's cab was also redesigned to make it easier to fit custom work applications, like a tow-truck, dump-truck or ambulance body.

If you're not familiar with the F-650 and F-750, you aren't alone. The trucks are rarely sold to retail shoppers, and they're not typically found on dealership lots. Instead, the trucks are often sold to commercial fleets, where they're converted into work vehicles ranging from box trucks to ambulances, flatbeds and tow trucks.

Under the hood, the F-650 and F-750 offer an impressive array of engines designed for the truck's heavy-duty uses. New for 2016 is a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8, which replaces last year's diesel powerplant. While Ford hasn't announced numbers, expect a wide array of power and torque figures ranging as high as 360 horsepower and 800 lb-ft. The truck will also continue to offer last year's 6.8-liter V10, which boasts an exceptional 362 hp.

While the 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 aren't for everyone, they're highly useful if your business requires the most capable trucks around. If that sounds like you, expect the trucks to go on sale next spring.

What it means to you: The 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 boast impressive capabilities and massive engines for large-scale jobs where a regular pickup just won't do.
