Car News: 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show
Audi A8 Previewed Ahead of Frankfurt Auto Show
- Audi A8 and S8 updated for 2015
- Pictures of new models shown ahead of Frankfurt
- Changes limited to cosmetic updates; new features
In Audi's pictures, it's clear that changes to the exterior of the A8 and S8 are minimal. The sedan's front grille is new, as are bumpers, headlights and taillights. Audi is also offering a few new paint colors and wheel choices to go along with the face-lift.
The interior of the A8 and S8 is also largely similar to the cabin in today's models. No major elements were redesigned, though Audi says a few trim pieces were changed. Such minor updates are no surprise, considering the current A8 and S8 boast a luxurious interior with high-class appointments.
Other updates to the A8 and S8 are more substantial. For one, the car now offers an Active Lane Assist feature, which uses sensors to steer it into a parking space. And the sedan's night vision camera has been updated to recognize large mammals, such as deer. That's an improvement over the current technology, which is only programmed to recognize pedestrians.
While Audi has not revealed any other details about the A8 and S8, we expect a minor power bump. We also expect slightly improved fuel economy based on information Audi released about European A8 and S8 models.
In addition to releasing the updated A8 and S8, Audi is reportedly planning a big unveiling for Frankfurt. Some industry insiders believe it will be an updated concept version of Audi's iconic Quattro coupe, which was a rally car legend in the 1980s.
