Audi Refreshes A4 and A5 for 2013
- A4 and S4 get a face lift and Audi's signature LED daytime running lights
- A turbocharged V6 replaces the V8 in the S5 coupe
- Audi Connect integrates Google Earth imagery
Audi has announced updates for its 2013 A4 and S4 sedan and A5 and S5 coupe and cabriolet. Each model receives mild styling revisions, electrically assisted power steering and an enhanced Audi Connect telematics system with Google Earth functionality. Also, a more fuel-efficient V6 replaces the V8 in the S5 coupe.
Electrically assisted power steering replaces the hydraulic units in all four models. These electromechanical systems reduce weight while improving fuel economy.
A face lift that includes a new bumper and grille differentiates each 2013 model in the A4 and A5 family from its respective predecessor. The A4 gets a redesigned front bumper and hood, plus LED daytime running lights. New options on the A4 include halogen cornering lamps and LED taillights, and new wheel designs are also available. Interior updates include new gloss black trim and stainless steel mesh and wood inlays. Also new to the A4 and S4 is adaptive cruise control.
The A5 and S5 receive updated styling and equipment, too. These include a redesigned front bumper, grille and headlamps outside and new materials and colors inside. You can choose optional Nappa and perforated Milano leather seating and oak inlays, and there's a greater choice of interior colors for 2013 as well.
The S5 coupe gets a big change under the hood, too. The previous V8 has been replaced by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, making the S5 coupe faster and more fuel efficient than its predecessor. The 333-horspower engine, which is shared with the S4 and S5 convertible, gives the S5 coupe a 0-to-60-mph time of just under five seconds.
The Audi Connect information and entertainment platform-with Google Earth imagery-is now part of the MMI navigation system on each model in the A4/S4 and A5/S5 lineup, so now users can zoom in for a Google-Earth-style view of a destination.
What it means to you: Google Earth reaches 2013 Audi A4/S4 and A5/S5 models, while subtle styling updates and a few mechanical changes increase efficiency.
