AutoTrader Videos Surpass One Million YouTube Views
- AutoTrader's YouTube videos reached one million views in May
- The site's videos provide informative, educational content to car shoppers
- Recently released blooper reel commemorates the one millionth view
AutoTrader surpassed a major milestone this month by topping one million views for its YouTube videos. Launched in December 2010, AutoTrader's YouTube channel currently hosts more than 225 videos aimed at helping car shoppers navigate the often-challenging process of buying a car.
Primarily produced by AutoTrader's editorial team, the videos include auto show coverage, new and used vehicle reviews, and educational content, such as videos devoted to explaining the crucial features of an off-road-ready SUV and the technology behind plug-in hybrids.
"We know that video is an important part of the car shopping process, as the convergence of sight, sound and motion helps create emotional connections between shoppers and vehicles," said Scott Markle, AutoTrader.com's senior manager of content strategy. "With these videos, we aim to bring vehicles to life in a way that engages shoppers, talk about topics that are important to those shoppers and educate them on subjects with which they might not be very familiar."
Indeed, several of AutoTrader.com's most popular videos offer help and information designed to aid shoppers through the car buying process. Some of the channel's most-viewed clips include a review of the 2011 Kia Optima, a look at the top luxury cars from this year's Detroit Auto Show and an exploration of five unique reasons to consider Chevrolet's all-new Sonic subcompact.
But the channel also includes several fun clips that provide a welcome break from the sometimes-wearying car buying process. One such video, currently ranked as the channel's most popular, offers a sneak peak at a concept car designed for AutoTrader by Dream Machines, a new show on the SyFy television network. There's also a video documenting an autocross excursion in AutoTrader.com's long-term Mini Cooper JCW Coupe test car.
To celebrate its millionth view, AutoTrader recently added a new video that shows outtakes and bloopers from previous clips. To view that video, push Play on the video above - and to see the rest of its YouTube uploads, check out AutoTrader's official YouTube channel.
What it means to you: AutoTrader's YouTube videos can be a great source for automotive information, new and used car reviews and - in the case of the blooper reel - even a laugh.
