  • Special 2014 Charger and Challenger celebrating 100 years of Dodge
  • Standard 20-inch wheels and premium audio
  • Available early 2014

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of its first production vehicle, Dodge announced two commemorative special editions for 2014. Available early next year, the Dodge Charger 100th Anniversary Edition and Dodge Challenger 100th Anniversary Edition give drivers a way to celebrate with the brand. Both special editions include 20-in wheels, premium audio and unique design details, including 100th Anniversary badges. A new paint color called High Octane red pearl is available exclusively on the special editions.

For the 2014 Dodge Charger 100th Anniversary Edition, buyers can choose either Chrysler's 3.6-liter V6 -- good for 300 horsepower -- or the more powerful 5.7-liter HEMI V8, which produces 370 hp. For its exterior, the 100th Anniversary Charger wears 20-in polished aluminum 5-spoke wheels. Wheel pockets are finished in a dark gray metallic shade, as is the matching crosshair grille insert. Commemorative badges on the fenders and wheel centers celebrate the brand's anniversary.

Inside, the 100th Anniversary Dodge Charger gets Nappa leather with contrasting stitching, a flat-bottomed steering wheel with paddle shifters, more commemorative badges and specially embroidered seat backs and floor mats. A 10-speaker, 552-watt Beats by Dre audio system and Chrysler's Uconnect infotainment interface with an 8.4-in touchscreen are standard.

The 2014 Dodge Challenger 100th Anniversary Edition is also available with a choice of V6 or V8 engines, but Challenger buyers can also choose a 6-speed manual transmission instead of an automatic. Like the special-edition Charger, the Challenger 100th Anniversary includes big 5-spoke wheels with dark-painted pockets and a matching grille surround, as well as commemorative badges inside and out. Inside, the Challenger also includes embroidered seats and floor mats, plus Challenger sill plates from Mopar and metallic pedals. A 7-speaker, 368-watt Boston Acoustics audio system is standard for the special edition.

More subtle details are included, too. Speedometers for both the 100th Anniversary Dodge Charger and Challenger have "100" indicated in contrasting red. Drivers that like the muscle-car styling but want a distinctive version with exclusive details should consider the 100th Anniversary models. Dodge has already announced pricing: a $2,200 premium for the Charger and a $2,500 premium for the Challenger, compared with SXT Plus or R/T Plus models.

What it means to you: True Mopar fans can celebrate 100 years of Dodge vehicles with a special-edition 2014 Dodge Charger 100th Anniversary or Challenger 100th Anniversary.
