2008 Buick Enclave recalls better times for Tiger Woods
Things were certainly going better, both on the course and off, for golf superstar Tiger Woods in December of 2007. Back then, when he rode in this 2008 Buick Enclave, he was hosting the Target World Challenge golf tournament at the Sherman Oaks Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California.
Unlike the recent Masters, where Woods finished tied for 4th place behind winner Phil Mickelson, he won easily leaving the field in his wake while posting a tournament record 22 under 266. Woods was a spokesperson for Buick at the time and General Motors provided courtesy cars for the tournament. Woods had use of the cars during that time.
"This was a car at that tournament and Tiger Woods did sit in it," current owner James Nicoll said.
A large part of this car's allure is the fact that Nicoll has the proof to verify the Buick's PGA Tour pedigree. In fact photos of the documentation Nicoll received from GM when he bought the car are visible in the ad on Autotrader.com.
Nicoll says he and his wife purchased the Enclave not only for its Tiger Woods connection but because they were also looking for something a little more practical to drive.
"My wife and I just wanted to trade down from our big Yukon," he said.
While the Buick does not feature any special customization the car is very well equipped.
"It is their top of the line model with power everything. All the bells and whistles," Nicoll says, "it drives like a dream."
But Nicoll understands that it's probably not the Buick's handling or impressive list of factory options that will attract most potential buyers. It's the car's link to the famous golfer, and his even more famous run in the tabloids over the last several months, that make the Enclave special.
"It's for the guy who wants a story at the cocktail party," he said.
Even so Nicoll wisely chooses to avoid telling any such stories himself or making any comments about Woods' personal problems.
"Don't judge me with Tiger. I don't know him well and can't judge his character," Nicoll said.
