  • GM's Preferred Pricing on Chevy, Buick and GMC vehicles
  • Available to veterans, reservists, active-duty and retired military and their spouses
  • Offered in combination with other current incentives

Since President Woodrow Wilson established Armistice Day in 1919, Americans have celebrated the men and women who serve in our armed forces every year on November 11th. Decades later, the holiday was changed to Veterans Day, but the meaning remained: Show appreciation for those who have served our country's military.

With its military discount program, one U.S. automaker shows its appreciation of both active and inactive military personnel. Fortunately, its offer extends beyond Veterans Day. General Motors (GM) offers a military discount not only to veterans but also to reservists, active-duty and retired military. GM's discount program includes low pricing on most Chevrolet, Buick and GMC vehicles and can be combined with other existing deals.

The special offer from GM can be applied to a new 2012 or 2013 vehicle delivered through January 2, 2013. Cadillac vehicles and the Chevy Camaro ZL1 are not eligible, but all other models in GM's vast lineup qualify. Buyers get GM's Preferred Pricing--the same pricing offered to GM employees--plus other current incentives, such as cash allowances and special financing terms.

Also included in GM's offer are a transferable, 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, six months of standard OnStar and 24-hour emergency roadside assistance. GM notes that its discount for armed forces is the only program that combines all of these incentives.

Those who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard or Coast Guard can qualify. Veterans within one year of discharge date, active-duty military and reservists are eligible, as are retired military and their spouses. Those who qualify can purchase up to two vehicles per year using this discount. Although all U.S. GM dealers participate in the program, participation is on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis.

To take advantage of the program, visit GMmilitarydiscount.com and request a "Go Code." Print your code and take it to a GM dealer along with your military ID. Tell the dealer up front that you intend to use the discount.

An attractive deal on a new vehicle certainly isn't adequate payback for military service to one's country, but these incentives are a nice token of GM's appreciation and an attractive deal for military men and women who qualify.

What it means to you: GM offers veterans and military men and women, active and retired, the same low prices it offers its employees, and includes other available offers in the deal too.
