GMC Extending Special Discounts to Military Members

- The discounts are available to 21 million current or former military members
GMC is celebrating Military Appreciation Month in May by offering a special discount to active and retired members of the U.S. military. That's the latest from the General Motors truck brand, which says that the special pricing is available to more than 21 million current and former military members.
According to the automaker, military pricing will last from now until June 30. While the exact pricing varies from vehicle to vehicle, GMC says dollar figures can range as high as $8,800 off the suggested retail price of its all-new, V8-powered 2014 Sierra SLE 1500 Double Cab. While most price cuts won't reach that figure, the automaker's decision to offer such discounts certainly shows its appreciation for the armed forces.
"It's a small token of gratitude from GMC for those that serve this country," said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president of Buick and GMC. "We're very proud of the brand's history with the U.S. military, but even more so of the men and women that sacrifice for this country, every day."
GMC also says the military discounts can be combined with most current incentives, meaning active and former armed forces members will see some unusually high savings from now until the end of June. In addition, GMC notes that USAA members are eligible for an extra $750 discount on top of the new military savings.
The GMC military discounts continue a tradition that the brand started during past Military Appreciation Months. GMC says that part of the reason it gives the discounts is to emphasize its long history with the military, which began in 1916 when the brand supplied trucks to the Army during World War I.
What it means to you: Whether you're active military or retired -- and regardless of which branch you served in -- you can use GMC's celebration of Military Appreciation Month to get a good deal on one of its models through the end of June.
