Lexus Unveils LS 460 Touring Edition
While most automakers are rolling out 2012 models, Lexus announced one more addition to its 2011 lineup: the LS460 Touring Edition. Starting at $73,875 including destination fees, Lexus hopes the sporty new trim level will help attract younger buyers to its flagship luxury sedan.
Offered only in a charcoal color Lexus calls Smoky Granite Mica, the new LS460 Touring Edition will feature several performance-oriented upgrades over the standard LS460. On the outside, a sport grille and flared body kit distinguish the new model. Rear-wheel drive Touring Edition models will also get bigger 19-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside, drivers will also find a more performance-tuned environment including sport seats designed to provide more lateral support in corners and revised trim, which will feature matte wood surfaces, upgraded floormats, black and saddle leather upholstery and a wood- and leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector.
"The Touring Edition adds excitement to our flagship sedan," said Mark Templin, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager. "The package on this car enhances styling and comfort, allowing us to attract younger buyers to the LS lineup."
According to Lexus, the LS460 Touring Edition will see only limited production, though the automaker hasn't announced a specific number. Power will come from the LS460's 4.6-liter V8, capable of 380 horsepower in rear-drive models, or 357 when paired with the optional all-wheel drive system. The only available transmission is an 8-speed automatic.
"The LS460 Touring Edition is a unique package of sporty exterior styling and comfort. With limited units available nationwide, they'll sell out fast to customers who want an all-inclusive luxury package," said Templin.
Like the standard LS460, the LS460 Touring Edition will feature a long list of standard equipment, including keyless starting, in-dash 6-disc CD changer, iPod connection, rearview camera, automatic headlights, power sunroof and Xenon headlights that turn with the steering wheel.
