ADDITIONAL MODEL INFORMATION
2012 Nissan Quest

author photo by Nick Palermo
  • Price of base Quest S reduced by $1,760
  • SL model gets standard DVD entertainment system
  • Modest price increase on SV and SL models
  • Lease deals and cash back incentives from Nissan dealers

Despite a redesign for the 2011 model year, Nissan's Quest minivan may not be a huge seller like the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna or Chrysler Town & Country. Still, slow sales one year can mean great deals the next. Nissan has dropped the price of the base 2012 Quest S by a substantial $1,760, a reduction of over 6%. The base model is the only one of four trim levels with a lower MSRP than last year's, but both the SV and SL see only a modest $150 price increase, and the SL gets a DVD entertainment system added as standard equipment. The top-of-the-line Quest LE's price rises by $1000. Nissan dealers are running lease deals, 0% financing and cash back offers to get potential buyers in the door.

The price drop for the Quest S means it's more affordable than the comparable best-selling minivans listed above, yet it packs many of the same family-friendly features found on pricier vans. The Quest has flat-folding second- and third-row seats, plus a handy feature that makes accessing the third row easier. While some vans now offer eight-passenger configuration, the Quest is limited to seven occupants.

Under the hood, the Quest doesn't come up short. Some minivans come with a base four-cylinder engine, but all four Quest trim levels get a 260-horsepower V6 and a continuously variable transmission to improve economy.

The base S model is now priced at $25,990. The SV starts at $31,050 and will soon be available with leather interior, an option previously reserved for SL and LE models. The $34,500 SL now includes the DVD entertainment system as standard equipment, including an 11-inch 16:9 monitor. Finally, the Quest LE includes standard automatic climate control with filtration and a blind spot warning system among other upscale features. Pricing for the LE is now $42,350.

To sweeten the deal, Nissan dealers are offering lease and finance incentives on the 2012 Quest. Nissan North America is referring inquiries to Nissan dealers rather than outlining the offers themselves. A local dealer search shows incentives for the Quest including 0% financing for 36 months, $2,750 cash back, or a 39-month lease at $299 per month.

Between the lower or only modestly increased 2012 prices and offers from Nissan dealers, the improved value proposition of the Quest is worth consideration.

What it means to you: Take advantage of specials from Nissan dealers on the 2012 Quest, and enjoy more competitive pricing on most models, too.
