  • Toyota's price increases range from $125 to $720 in 2012
  • The Venza XLE is less expensive in 2012
  • The Lexus LS increases in price by $500

Toyota recently announced price increases for several upcoming 2012 models ahead of their launches early next year. According to the automaker, the 2012 Corolla, FJ Cruiser, Highlander, Tundra and Venza will see boosted prices for the new model year, as will the LS luxury sedan from Toyota's premium brand, Lexus.

According to Toyota, the base-level Corolla L is adding standard power windows, power locks, remote keyless entry and color-keyed power mirrors for 2012, leading to new base price of $16,130 - a $230 increase over last year. The mid-level Corolla LE is also seeing a $310 price increase for the new model year to $17,910, while top-of-the-line Corolla S will start at $18,820 for 2012, representing a $220 increase over last year's base price.

The adventurous FJ Cruiser is also getting a price boost for 2012, jumping $125 over last year's model to start at $25,415, while most trim levels of the more mainstream 2012 Highlander are adding $150 to last year's models. The lone exception is the 2012 Highlander Hybrid, which is upping its bottom line by $400 for the new model year.

The last two Toyotas named in the automaker's recently announced price hike are the full-size 2012 Tundra pickup and the midsize Venza crossover. Toyota says it's adding $720 to the base price of regular-cab Tundra models, while DoubleCab and CrewMax body styles see a $250 boost. Thanks to a reshuffling of trim levels, the base-level Venza LE adds $240 to its bottom line for 2012, while the new Venza XLE drops a whopping $880 versus last year's model and the upscale Venza Limited loses $460 from its base price compared to the 2011 version.

Toyota also revealed 2012 pricing for two models from its upscale Lexus brand. According to the automaker, all versions of the 2012 Lexus LS will start $500 higher than last year's models, while base pricing for the recently released CT200h hatchback remains unchanged at $29,120.

According to Toyota, most 2012 models should begin arriving at dealerships nationwide next month.

What it means to you:

Toyota's price increases are standard fare for a new model year as the automaker keeps up with inflation.
