Buying a new car can be tricky. Each year, carmakers tweak their lineups to set the new apart from the old. Dealerships often give out big discounts on the old models to try and make room for the latest and greatest cars.

Toyota recently announced some details on its 2012 lineup. Here are some of the changes that might help you decide if it is worth waiting for the new model, or jumping on the discounts for the old.

Yaris

The Japanese car maker announced its pricing on its all-new Yaris subcompact car. The tiny Toyota will come with a slightly higher base price tag for the new year, but it will come with more standard equipment. The three-door hatchback with a manual transmission will start out at $14,115 - almost $1,000 more than the current model.

Not a whole lot has been released about the new Yaris yet, so stay tuned for an update on Toyota's other changes for this car.

Sequoia

The Sequoia will also see some changes in the 2012 model year. Toyota's Trailer Sway Control system is now standard equipment for the SUV. The system first showed up on the current model Tundra and works by applying brakes to the car's wheels individually when it senses the trailer is going out of control.

Normally, applying the brakes in this type of situation can exacerbate a weaving trailer, but Toyota says its new safety system will help keep trailer emergencies under control.

The 2012 Sequoia will also have a new color, Sizzling Crimson Mica, and the interior trim will get some new black accents and black carpet across all models.

Sequoia pricing will remain the same for this year. The popular SUV is set to see a $239 price bump in the new year.

Tundra

The Toyota Pickup will receive a redesigned set of standard steel wheels for the new model and features like daytime running lights, heated mirrors and the Cold Area Package will now be standard for the new model.

In spite of the new equipment, prices are only set to go up around $350- so if you live in a cold climate, it may be worth waiting for the new model in early September.

Sienna

Toyota's 'Swagger Wagon' launched just last year, so there aren't many changes for the new car.

Prices will go up a negligible $174, so if you find a great deal on last year's model, it might be best to just jump on it.
