Toyota has officially announced pricing for the newest members of its Prius family. According to the automaker, pricing for the larger, family-friendly Prius V will start at $26,400, while the Prius Plug-in Hybrid will go for $32,000. Both figures are before destination charges, or - in the case of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid - any applicable federal or state tax credits.

Eco-minded car shoppers with growing families will likely be interested in the Prius V. Powered by the same engine from the standard Prius and featuring the popular hybrid's familiar styling, the Prius V features a larger cargo area than the traditional model without sacrificing fuel economy. According to Toyota, the Prius V will come in three trim levels - Two, Three and Five - when it goes on sale in late October.

The Prius V Two starts at $26,400 and includes a host of standard equipment like 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth, a USB port and a 6.1-inch LCD screen with a backup camera. The mid-level Prius V Three starts at $27,165 and adds a navigation system plus Toyota's Entune multimedia system, which includes satellite radio. Topping the range is the Prius V Five, which adds heated front seats, 17-inch wheels and LED headlights for $29,990.

Toyota is also introducing the Prius Plug-in Hybrid for those interested in maximizing fuel efficiency. Offered in two trim levels - the standard model and the high-end Advanced - the Prius Plug-in Hybrid is capable of electric-only driving for 15 miles at speeds of up to 62 miles per hour. According to Toyota, the Prius Plug-in Hybrid can recharge in three hours using a 120-volt outlet and is capable of 87 miles per gallon equivalent - the government's newest ranking for partially- or fully-electric cars.

Standard features included in the Prius Plug-in Hybrid's $32,000 price tag range from heated front seats and a remote air-conditioning system capable of running on battery power even when the car is off to a navigation system, rearview camera and Toyota's Entune multimedia system. The $39,525 Advanced model adds radar cruise control, automatic headlights and Plug-in hybrid cell phone apps allowing drivers to manage charging and other functions through their smart phones.

Toyota says the Prius Plug-in Hybrid will go on sale this spring in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Washington, with a national rollout planned for 2013.
