Volkswagen Prices 2013 CC
- More features than car it replaces
- Can now seat five passengers
- Five trim levels ranging from $30,000 to $41,000
Volkswagen's CC has always been its sleeper car in the sense that many people don't realize it's a Volkswagen. If asked which manufacturer makes the car, it wouldn't be totally uncommon to hear mentions of Mercedes, Audi or even Jaguar. The beauty is that while it may look like those cars, it doesn't cost nearly as much as one. For 2013, Volkswagen's entry into the 'four-door sedan" segment is getting an update, and a consequential bump in pricing, but you'd still be hard-pressed to find a similar car for the price.
Chief among the changes is the styling of the CC. While the overall shape remains the same, the new CC gets a new set of headlights and taillights, the former featuring Bi-Xenon technology, and LEDs being featured all around. Inside, a center rear seat has been added, meaning the car can now carry five passengers rather than only four. In addition, the model line is now expanded to five trim levels, up from three.
At the entry level is the 2.0T Sport, which starts at $30,610. This price included many luxury features such as a touchscreen radio with HD Radio, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, automatic climate control, heated front seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. One step above that is the 2.0T Sport Plus, which is new for 2013, starts at $32,850, adds 18" alloy wheels and a navigation system, and only comes with an automatic transmission. The 2.0T Lux has all that, plus aluminum interior trim, a tinted-glass power sunroof, and ambient lighting.
Moving away from the turbocharged four-cylinder engine into the bigger VR6 starts you off with a Lux model, which is another new model for 2013. It comes with all the kit the 2.0T Lux does, but also included an upgraded navigation system, heated headlight washers, memory seats and mirrors, and a brand new ebony interior trim. All of that equipment comes with a window sticker reading $37,730. Lastly, the VR6 4Motion Executive is the only model offered with VW's 4Motion all-wheel drive system, and includes a massage function in the driver's seat, Park Distance Control, and a premium sound system. The price of this flagship-level luxury starts at $41,420.
What it means to you: If the four-door coupe aesthetic appeals to you, but the pricetag doesn't, VW's CC does well in both categories, without sacrificing features.
