Volkswagen World Auto CPO Program Launched
- Program includes pre-owned Volkswagen, non-Volkswagen models
- Volkswagen models offered as Certified Pre-Owned (CPO)
- Non-Volkswagen models offered as Quality Pre-Owned (QPO)
- QPO vehicles include shorter warranty
Volkswagen announced the launch of its certified pre-owned (CPO) program, which includes models from both its own brand and those of other automakers. The automaker says all of its dealers have passed the necessary training requirements to participate in its global Volkswagen World Auto CPO program. Dealers will offer qualified Volkswagen models as CPO, while non-Volkswagen models will be sold as Quality Pre-Owned (QPO), and will include less generous warranty coverage.
Volkswagen says the program will benefit dealers by allowing them to improve customer service in the used vehicle market. For shoppers, the improvement in service may come as an opportunity to shop vehicles from multiple brands--all backed by warranty and roadside assistance coverage--in one location.
All vehicles sold under VW's World Auto program are six years old or newer, have no more than 75,000 miles and are inspected by certified technicians and returned to like-new condition. Aside from brand, the difference between CPO and QPO models is the length of the warranty and roadside assistance coverage.
Some CPO Volkswagen models will be sold with a remaining factory warranty. In that case, the 2-year/24,000-mile CPO warranty will kick in when the factory warranty expires. Otherwise, it's good for two years or 24,000 miles from the sale date and includes two years of roadside assistance and a 3-month SiriusXM subscription.
Non-Volkswagen QPO models get a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty and one year of roadside assistance coverage. The free SiriusXM subscription is included on QPO vehicles too.
What it means to you: Under the World Auto program, used-Volkswagen dealers offer not only VW models but other brands too. Be sure to consider the differences in warranty coverage between CPO and QPO vehicles.
