What Is AcuraLink?
Getting navigation help should be safe and seamless -- no dangerous glances at your phone or the constant bark of commands. Fortunately, Acura has made getting where you need to go fairly simple thanks to its next-generation infotainment network, AcuraLink.
The cloud-based system -- available via embedded technology or with your wireless device -- debuted earlier this year on the 2014 Acura RLX luxury sedan. Now, drivers can access thousands of news, information and media feeds from just about anywhere. Everything is controlled via touchscreen or by buttons on the steering wheel.
The standout feature? The Real-Time Traffic function.
As you motor down the highway in your RLX, you'll be alerted to accidents ahead, construction delays and traffic flow thanks to embedded tech that tracks the real-time movements of cars on the road. You'll have the bonus of nabbing automatic rerouting to find the quickest path to your destination.
Here's where the system really sings: It alerts you to traffic snags and other potential delays on surface streets, too. And its Eco Route tool factors in traffic congestion, the incline of the road and fuel consumption data for more fuel-efficient driving.
Available at three prices -- from standard to premium -- AcuraLink may keep you from ever getting road rage again.
The Standard Package is complimentary for three years and includes both in-car and connected device services. With the smartphone app, you can preset your favorites and enjoy tons of personalized content from such sites as Yelp, Twitter and NPR.
The Connect Package includes the functionality of an embedded cell phone in the RLX for added safety and convenience, an emergency SOS option with a live operator and a local search feature to scope out nearby points of interest. The mobile app features include pedestrian navigation and routing, virtual dashboard and parking meter assist for harried errand runs.
Those wanting the most luxurious experience can opt for the premium package, which adds a live mobile concierge service that's just a button push away. You'll nab 24/7 help with things such as directions, reservations and weather forecasts.
Looks like clear skies ahead for Acura drivers.
