ADDITIONAL MODEL INFORMATION
2013 Toyota Tundra

Competition for the 2013 Toyota Tundra is tougher than ever. From the redesigned Ford F-150 to the updated Chevy Silverado and RAM trucks, Toyota has always had an uphill battle, as those pickups have been proven in the American landscape for generations. To give the Tundra a fighting chance, Toyota decided to build the truck where everything seems a little bigger: Texas.

On the outside, the 2013 Tundra has a massive grille and uses a muscular front bumper to intimidate anyone looking for trouble. The Tundra has multiple cabs and bed lengths that will accommodate anyone or anything. Cab configurations include regular, double and CrewMax, while bed lengths range from just over 66 inches to just under 98 inches.

Three trim levels are available on the 2013 Tundra: Base, Limited and Platinum. As the names suggest, the various trim levels greatly increase comfort. For example, the Platinum trim can have optional heated and ventilated front bucket seats, navigation with Toyota's Entune app-based multimedia system -- including Bing, iHeartRadio, MovieTickets.com, OpenTable and Pandora -- as well as the ability to find local fuel prices or news updates on sports, stocks, traffic and weather.

All trim levels of the 2013 Tundra have an edgy interior that offers a cockpit feel and a bold two-tone color scheme. The controls are easy to operate, but be prepared to stretch a bit -- some buttons might be a little far to reach.

Depending on your needs, three engines -- one V6 and two V8 options -- are available for the 2013 Tundra. The only transmission available for all three engines is an automatic. To get the most out of your Tundra, take a look at the hefty 5.7-liter V8 that produces 381 horsepower and can tow up to 10,400 pounds. Rear-wheel drive is standard for all trims, while 4-wheel drive is optional when equipped with one of the V8 engines.

Again, competition is tough and includes the more powerful Ford F-150, the RAM 1500 with a car-like feel and the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, both of which are strong on power and reliability but offer slightly aged interior finishes. And, with prices ranging from around $25,000 to almost $50,000, any of those trucks can be configured to your needs, depending on your budget.

However, the 2013 Toyota Tundra makes a strong case for itself in the full-size pickup category, as it offers plenty of power, versatility and comfort. With multiple cab and bed configurations, the option of 2- or 4-wheel drive and a large selection of accessories, you're bound to end up with a winning combination.
