2014 Ford Fiesta

The current Ford Fiesta has been with us for a while now, but it still looks fresh, and it has something really fresh under the hood. The 2014 Ford Fiesta is newly available with a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder engine with EcoBoost turbocharging, but that's just one of the Fiesta's many strengths. Here are five reasons why the Fiesta is still the life of the party.

Innovative Engine

Quick, name another car with a 3-cylinder engine. Now name one that's turbocharged. Unless you know something we don't, there's only one answer, and you're looking at it. So, what's the big deal? Well, the low cylinder count means that the engine is small and fuel-efficient, yet the turbo gives it about the same punch as the Fiesta's standard 4-cylinder engine, so you get better fuel economy without giving up performance. It's one of those deals you can't refuse.

Mega Mpg

You want numbers? How about this: With the 6-speed manual transmission, the 3-cylinder Fiesta gets 32 miles per gallon in the city and 45 mpg on the highway; that's an incredible 37 mpg combined. Even with the automatic transmission, it still gets 30 mpg city/41 mpg hwy. Aside from diesel- and hybrid-powered cars, that's about as good as it gets.

European Drive

Although the U.S.-market Fiesta is built in Mexico, it's a carbon copy of the one designed for Europe's narrow, twisty roads. Translation: It has moves. No matter which engine you choose, the Fiesta is a blast to drive, with quick steering and a nimble chassis. For maximum thrills, of course, you'll want the Fiesta ST with its 197-horsepower engine and high-performance suspension. But every Fiesta has spice, and that helps set this little runabout apart.

Upscale Features on a Budget

Don't count the Fiesta out when it comes to equipment. You can get all sorts of cool stuff in this car, including push-button start, SYNC with MyFord Touch, leather upholstery and Sony audio, all for less than $20,000. The trend these days is for compact cars to offer big-car features, and the Fiesta's helping to lead the charge.

Uncommon Style

Whether you get the hatchback or the more affordable sedan, you'll have one of the best-looking compacts on the road. The Fiesta has the same Aston Martin-inspired grille as other Ford cars, and the strong character lines and wraparound taillights give it a premium vibe from curbside. It's one of the few compact cars that would look good in any driveway.

AutoTrader Says

The big news is the 3-cylinder EcoBoost, but it's not the only news. From the base model all the way up to the high-performance ST, the 2014 Ford Fiesta is still one of the best little cars you can buy.
