New Car Review
2014 Maserati Quattroporte: Overview
Pros: Cool new design; advanced interior; unusually spry for a luxury sedan
Cons: Expect big depreciation; pricey compared to rivals; styling very similar to cheaper Ghibli
What's New: The Quattroporte is fully redesigned for 2014 to offer entirely new styling, a new interior, new engines and new features.
If you're looking for a sedan that combines "luxury" and "sport," you've found it. The 2014 Maserati Quattroporte does an excellent job with both -- and it adds a little style, too.
The Quattroporte is the flagship sedan model in Maserati's expanding lineup. It slots above the new Ghibli, which starts around $66,500 after shipping. By comparison, the Quattroporte's starting price is a whopping $103,500 with shipping -- a number that quickly rises with options.
Like the Ghibli, the Quattroporte is available with two trims. That $103,500 figure buys you a base-level Quattroporte S, which features a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6. While that may not sound like the powertrain of an exotic Italian car, the Quattroporte S manages to produce a respectable 404 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is optional.
Upgrade to the Quattroporte GTS and things get even more exciting. While pricing starts at a whopping $141,500, GTS models boast rear-wheel drive and a 3.8-liter V8 that makes 523 hp and 524 lb-ft -- numbers that place it close to many of today's exotic sports cars. Maserati says 0-to-60 miles per hour time is around 5 seconds for the Quattroporte S or 4.6 seconds for the GTS.
And what can you expect your 2014 Maserati Quattroporte to include? Choose an S model and you'll have dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof, 19-inch wheels, a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, heated front seats and a sharp-looking 8.4-in center-mounted touchscreen. Upgrade to the GTS and you'll get larger wheels, larger brakes, heated rear seats and unique touches inside and out.
The Quattroporte also includes a long list of options, from ventilated seats and 4-zone climate control to various wheel designs and interior trim packages. In other words, you can customize your luxury sport sedan just about any way you want.
